Following
Jesus, the Son of God

Matthew
4:18
And Jesus, walking by the
Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter,
and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for
they were fishermen. Then He said to them,“ |

and
I will make you fishers of men.” They immediately left
their nets and followed Him. Going on from there, He saw
two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John
his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father,
mending their nets. He called them, and immediately they
left the boat and their father, and followed Him. |

For
whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but
whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s
will save it. For what will it profit a man if he gains
the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a
man give in exchange for his soul? For whoever is
ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful
generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed
when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy
angels.” |
.”
So
he left all, rose up, and followed Him. Then Levi gave
Him a great feast in his own house. And there were a
great number of tax collectors and others who sat down
with them. And their scribes and the Pharisees
complained against His disciples, saying, “Why do You
eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?” Jesus
answered and said to them, “Those who are well have no
need of a physician, but those who are sick. I have not
come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.” |

Now
Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.
Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found
Him of whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets,
wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” And
Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of
Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.”
Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him, and said of him,
“Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!”
Nathanael said to Him, “How do You know me?” Jesus
answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you,
when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.”
Nathanael answered and said to Him, “Rabbi, You are
the Son of
God! You are the King of Israel!” |
